Designers of AMMG Architects have created an apartment interior for a young and stylish lady. The bright, expressive and at the same time elegant image of the customer suggested to the studio a metaphor of the contrast of the elements: water and fire. In combination with the desire for maximum openness and transparency of the premises, the idea was born to build an interior around the bathroom, placing it in the center of the space.
There were no changes to the zoning – according to the original design of the house, the bathroom was located in a good place at the junction of the living room and bedroom; part of the walls were replaced with glass partitions, which allowed daylight to enter the bathroom space and achieve volume expansion, build the space so that from each point we see all the rooms and mentally read the volume of the apartment. Of course, we have not forgotten about private comfort – glass walls from transparent become opaque with a single push of a button.
The color scheme is based on halftones and shades of gray. According to Ekaterina, one of the authors of the project, the authors and clients wanted to combine the lapidary of pure minimalism and playing on thin semitones. White color in its pure form is spectacular, but often simplifies the interior; here, for each surface, its own, subtle shade is selected. So, the self-leveling floor in the living room is neutral gray, the kitchen is painted cold white, on the contrary, a drop of warm pigment has been added to the white ceiling. The light marble of Calacatta seems to collect all the shades of the interior around in its veins, and contrasting dark curbstones, made to order, will shade the delicate scale. An important accent was the Terzani chandelier — in such a minimalistic interior, it looks almost like an art object, diluting the purity of style and adding a slight touch of irony. The interior of the bedroom was softened with an oak plank on the floor and wall panels of gray-beige alcantara with brass sections; in the evening, the customer wanted a warmer and more relaxing atmosphere.
One of the studio's favorite techniques, mirrors, are also actively involved in shaping the structure of space, blurring the boundaries of reality, and enriching visual angles. The most impressive, of course, is the bathroom. The corner projecting into the living room is made entirely of glass, resting on a marble volume, into which a luxurious bathtub is built. On the other side of the glass, the plane continues into the living room, and a bio—fireplace is installed on the same level - lying in the bathroom, the illusion is created that the flame grows out of the water immediately; the effect becomes especially strong if you turn off all the light, except for the contour backlight. The dynamics and expression of the composition are emphasized by a podium and a suspended shell consisting of two displaced, as if flying rectangular volumes. For the convenience of lighting control and the creation of various scenarios, the project provides a smart home system, which also integrates multimedia, smart glass, and electric curtains.
