CELEGNO
In the modern, partly brutal interior, there are motifs characteristic of both Japanese and Scandinavian architecture: natural wood and concrete with traces of formwork, pure geometry of three-dimensional elements and a restrained palette of materials used. Such a mixture of styles is becoming more and more in demand, and even received a special name: Japandi, from the words Japan and Scandinavian. This hybrid style is defined by two concepts – Scandinavian hugge and Eastern wabi-sabi. Hugge is a philosophy based on a calm and measured flow of time, a sense of comfort, well–being and contentment; wabi-sabi can be described as the beauty of what is incomplete, fleeting and at the same time beautiful in its naturalness and authenticity. The aesthetics of wabi-sabi encourages the viewer to notice ascetic beauty, reflect on the connection with nature and notice the beauty in simplicity ... it is not surprising that in our saturated, technological age, where a person is constantly in a dynamic flow of information, simplicity and serenity at home are becoming more and more in demand.
Harmony in this apartment is achieved not at the expense of bright and catchy techniques, but at the expense of a finely found balance of forms, proportions, and materials. We used untreated concrete, gray and tactile; in contrast, we picked up a warm and natural wood, tinting it with an American walnut. The shapes of the furniture are lapidary, and form a geometric, almost supremacist composition – in the kitchen there are light and floating hanging shelves, in the living room there is a low tea table, reminiscent of Japanese traditions of dining on the tatami. The bedroom is especially minimalistic – the delicate and calm interior is built on a combination of a dark slatted wall and whitewashed ash planks on the floor; a bed with a headboard made of delicate alcantara completes the composition with its elegant lines. The textile design is emphasized functionally – we limited ourselves to the use of light gray linen curtains, almost invisible in the interior, but creating the same feeling of naturalness, harmony, and home warmth.
We used an unusual technique in the bathroom and guest bathroom — gray-beige ceramics and wooden panels were supplemented with accent walls made of translucent concrete. For the first time we saw this concrete at one of the specialized exhibitions, and since then we have decided that we will use it in our projects. An unusual effect is achieved due to the integration of the finest optical fiber filaments even at the stage of pouring concrete blocks; after solidification, the places where the filaments are inserted become translucent. LED lighting was hidden behind accent walls, and when it is turned on, an almost magical effect of the glow of myriads of dots on a seemingly monolithic and impenetrable surface is created. In the bathroom, a full-length mirror doubles the space, and behind a stylish rack-and-pinion partition they hid everything necessary for a full-fledged laundry room.
The teenage daughter's room is designed in the general style of the apartment, but here, at the request of the girl, a powdery color and bright accents were added to the fashion industry. Trending posters, scarlet plastic chairs, an abundance of mirrors and an unusual color scheme emphasize her daughter's passion for fashion and modeling. We managed to place everything we needed in a small room – there was a place for a full-fledged desktop, a home library, a spacious wardrobe, and a full-fledged double bed with an ergonomic mattress. All cabinet furniture is designed and made to order according to sketches by AMMG Architects.
