CORTEN AND CONCRETE
Concrete, aluminum facades and clarity of lines became the inspiration for AMMG architects when creating small houses for two brothers. The customers purchased a common plot in a pine forest, and we offered them to create a memorable and brutal visual image. In both houses, a common technique was used — the volume of the building was cut through with a wall of concrete with traces of formwork, which set the dynamics and stability of the composition at the same time. In contrast to the gray concrete, the rest of the materials were picked up – gray, as if dusty wood, graphite facade fiber cement panels and bright, spectacular Corten steel.
it was important to find a balance between a blank wall and glazing, calculate the departures of cantilever parts and make small houses characteristic, give them individual plastic. A successful technique was the well–defined rhythm of window openings with a special technology for the manufacture of double-glazed windows - windows without an upper lintel made it possible to break a solid wall, further emphasizing its impregnable character, like teeth on a medieval wall - only in a modern reading. The displacement of two floors made it possible to organize convenient parking, and the paving pattern, interconnected with the terrace, slightly dissolves the rigid contour of the building in the landscape. At the same time, the main facade is more "impregnable", closed from the observer; the interior, on the contrary, is almost completely glass at the 1st floor level and allows you to admire nature from anywhere in the interior.
The main task that we solved during the design process was the optimal search for proportions and relationships between various elements of the building;
Despite the deliberately rigid nature of the architecture, visually warm and tactilely pleasant materials used in the decoration of facades create a sense of comfort and natural naturalness for the owners — the cottages look harmoniously in the pine forest that prevails on the building site.
Lighting scenarios have also been carefully thought out – the integration of landscape, linear and spot LED lights complements the project, reveals the shape, emphasizes the contrast of materials and dynamic proportions.
