GLASS CAPSULE APARTMENT
Brutal interior with copper facades and a glass bedroom
The apartment is decorated in a brutal and modern style – the designers of AMMG Architects called it "neo-loft". The layout is built on the principle of OPEN SPACE, only the bathroom is isolated by walls from the rest of the space. On most of the space there is a kitchen-dining room, a small living room is located in the opposite part.
The semantic and compositional core of the apartment is the bedroom, which the designers designed spectacularly and unconventionally — the room was placed in a glass capsule assembled from U-glass parts; this material is usually used on facades and in offices — here it found a non-standard application. The rhythmicity of the glass elements through which sunlight is refracted creates a spectacular and memorable image of the interior – charismatic, brutal, and in some ways magical. The skeleton of the glass capsule is a welded steel structure made of channels — a feeling of reconstruction of an industrial building is created. The effect was enhanced with an aerosol on metal, which was subsequently manually aged with sandpaper under the careful supervision of designers.
The kitchen is one of the gems of the project; to implement the architects' idea, it was assembled from elements from 3 German factories. The facades of the upper cabinets, decorated with patinated copper, were made by special order at the carpentry manufactory; more than 20 full-format samples were made only for the approval of color and texture. The sculptural accent of the kitchen is a cantilever countertop protruding more than 1.5 meters from the wall — for its development, the company's designers developed a separate project, since the customer's requirement was the need to withstand a weight of more than 250 kg.
Brutal metal and glass are more effective against the background of warm and natural materials. The honey shade of the porcelain floor harmonizes with the copper panels of the kitchen facades, the micro-cement with imitation concrete on the walls and ceiling has a tactile pleasant roughness. For the facades of cabinets, in contrast to the black metal, we chose a warm and soft olive veneer — against a black background, it seems to glow from the inside. Designer accessories and electrics from the studio's favorite factories — elegant Spaniards Fantini Barcelona and London rebels Buster&Punch add sophistication and gloss to the interior in detail.
When choosing accessories and bathroom fixtures, we decided on another favorite brand — Gessi. The 360 collection in a matte finish of galvanized copper shades olive veneer and shades of rusty iron, manifested in the floor tiles.
And as always, paying attention to details, designers at a separate production tinted the fittings of the shower cabin for a perfect match with the copper interior details.
