One of the most imaginative for our workshop was the project of the IT department of the office of the largest oilfield services company Schlumberger. The bright, bold, and innovative design is inspired by the dynamics of the company development and the search for identity in the digital world. Unlike strict corporate standards, the IT department has set us the task to move away from strict guidelines, and complement the traditional blue with bright colors, motivating prints, author patterns, make the space spectacular, characteristic, and recognizable.
The name of the company, or rather, the capital letter of the brand served as inspiration at the very beginning of the work — when developing a planning solution. One of the layout options proposed by the designers was based on zoning in the form of the letter S, inscribed in the overall dimensions of the office. The customer shared the opinion of the designers and approved the proposed option — as a result, all the main formative lines in the design are subject to this logic. In accordance with the radii formed by the virtual letter, two peculiar centers were formed, each of which had its own immediate tasks. In the first center, we have formed a zone for meeting office guests, making presentations and communicating.
In the second, a work area for employees was placed directly. Both zones are visually emphasized by the spectacular design of suspended ceiling systems, combined with the geometry of carpet tiles and wall surfaces. The working area was separated from the entrance group by suspended mobile partitions, allowing, if necessary, to combine both spaces for lectures and presentations. The walls are partially covered with perforated metal panels arranged in an arc and subordinate to the geometry of the layout. A hidden wardrobe for storing outerwear was placed in the resulting space, without attracting undue attention to it. At the entrance there is an arc—shaped sofa designed according to an individual project. Assembled from separate modules, when assembled, it also follows the shape of the letter S, but allows you to use it anywhere in the office, if necessary, by disassembling it into separate chairs. Thanks to the panoramic glazing, there is enough daylight in the office — that why we boldly used dark shades for some of the walls. Part of the walls are decorated with panels of milled MDF with an original pattern in the form of a chip, emphasizing the innovation and digitalization of the company department. The only fully enclosed office space is a separate room for video conferencing; for this purpose, it is equipped with a chromakey wall and allows you to shoot and record videos at a professional level.
One of the most difficult and at the same time interesting tasks was the mutual linking of design solutions with high corporate standards for the integration of multimedia systems and automation. It was equally important to ensure a high level of noise insulation and acoustic comfort, for which we used not only soft panels, but also an innovative sound masking system. Digitalization goes hand in hand with caring for employees – all the details are thought out in the office, including the placement of coffee stations, convenient microclimate management and seating based on a detailed study of internal business processes in the team.
